Consistent with the Group’s commitment to operate a transparent, resource-efficient business, Westfield now reports externally on its water consumption across all of its portfolios (water data for the United States was previously not reported).

Total water consumption has increased by 115% due to the addition of data from the United States this year, which accounts for almost half of total water consumption of the Group. Water consumption in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom increased by 11% from 2011 to 2012. This included an increase in the use of rainwater collected directly and stored by Westfield, (mostly in the United Kingdom), from 4,799m3 to 598,895 m3.
